Past Perfect Continuous Tense

The Past Perfect Continuous Tense (also called the Past Perfect Progressive Tense) is used to describe an action that had been continuing for a period of time before another action or point in the past.

It emphasizes the duration of an activity before something else happened.

It is formed using had + been + verb + ing.

When to Use the Past Perfect Continuous Tense
