Inversion of Verbs (ইনভার্সন অব ভার্বস) - নিয়ম ও সহজ টেকনিক

সাধারণত ইংরেজি বাক্যে প্রথমে Subject এবং পরে Verb বসে (Subject + Verb)। কিন্তু কোনো বিশেষ জোর (Emphasis) প্রকাশ করতে বাক্যের শুরুতে Negative Adverb অথবা Negative Expression বসলে Subject-এর পূর্বে Auxiliary Verb চলে আসে। এই গঠন প্রক্রিয়াকেই Inversion বলা হয়।

⚡ ১. ইনভার্সনের মৌলিক গঠন (Basic Structure)

Normal Sentence:

Subject + Auxiliary Verb + Main Verb
He has seldom seen such a sight.

Inverted Sentence:

Negative Adverb + Auxiliary Verb + Subject + Main Verb
Seldom has he seen such a sight.

⚡ ২. যেসব Negative Adverbs থাকলে Inversion হয়

নিচের Negative/Restrictive শব্দগুলি দিয়ে বাক্য শুরু হলে অবশ্যই Inversion করতে হবে:

• Seldom (কদাচিৎ)
• Rarely / Barely / Scarcely / Hardly (কদাচিৎ / বললেই চলে না)
• Never / Never before (কখনোই না)
• Little (নেই বললেই চলে)
• Only by / Only in / Only when / Only then
• No sooner... than
• Not only... but also
• At no time / Under no circumstances / On no account

1. Seldom / Rarely / Hardly দিয়ে শুরু হলে

• Normal: She rarely goes out at night.

• Inverted: Rarely does she go out at night.

• Normal: I have seldom heard such a beautiful song.

• Inverted: Seldom have I heard such a beautiful song.

2. Never / Never before দিয়ে শুরু হলে

• Normal: I had never seen such a sunset before.
• Inverted: Never before had I seen such a sunset.

3. Little দিয়ে শুরু হলে

• Normal: He knew little about the plot.
• Inverted: Little did he know about the plot.

4. Only + Prepositional Phrase দিয়ে শুরু হলে

• Normal: You can pass the test only by working hard.
• Inverted: Only by working hard can you pass the test.

⚡ ৩. So / Neither / Nor দ্বারা ইনভার্সন (Agreements)

অন্য কারও কথা বা কাজের সাথে সম্মতি জানাতে So / Neither / Nor দিয়ে Inversion করা হয়:

(ক) হা-বোধক সম্মতিতে (So + Auxiliary + Subject):

• Speaker A: I like music.

• Speaker B: So do I. (আমিও পছন্দ করি।)

• Speaker A: Rahim can speak English.

• Speaker B: So can I. (আমিও পারি।)

(খ) না-বোধক সম্মতিতে (Neither / Nor + Auxiliary + Subject):

• Speaker A: I do not like tea.

• Speaker B: Neither do I. (আমিও পছন্দ করি না।)

• Speaker A: He didn't complete the task.

• Speaker B: Nor did she. (সে-ও সম্পন্ন করেনি।)
